The early years
The journey began in 1942 on Molenweg with the cultivation of fresh produce such as cucumbers, carrots and lettuce in cold frames. Soon thereafter (1953), tomatoes were added to the mix and the company grew steadily, grounded in craftsmanship and dedication.
Transition to ornamental horticulture
The transition to ornamental horticulture marked a new chapter. Initially, with cut flowers such as freesias and carnations (1957) and later (1973), with Cymbidium orchids. This laid the groundwork for a flourishing future in orchid cultivation.
The Phalaenopsis orchid
Pannekoek was among the first growers in the Netherlands to take on the challenge of cultivating Phalaenopsis orchids (1984). This bold step put the family business on the map. Alongside Phalaenopsis, we’ve also cultivated many other varieties, including Cattleya, Zygopetalum, Brassia, Oncidium, Cambria and Dendrobium.
Relocation to Berkel en Rodenrijs
As we continued to grow, we moved to a modern facility a in Berkel en Rodenrijs in 2006. This new chapter allowed us to further innovate, creating unique concepts that celebrate the versatility and beauty of orchids.
Sustainably grown, crafted with care
Vandaag de dag richt Pannekoek zich volledig op de Phalaenopsis Multiflora; een orchidee met kleine bloemen, grootse uitstraling en een lange houdbaarheid. Duurzaam geteeld, met liefde voor het vak en met oog voor de wensen van de klanten wereldwijd.
